How To Lay Your Internet Marketing Foundation

Business owners understand that customers need to find them in order to use their services or purchase their goods, but oftentimes the scope of this is not well understood. You need a phone number so people can contact you – that makes sense. You need an email address for people to email you, and you need a website for people to find your services on the internet. In this day and age, that isn’t enough though. When a user has a problem, they more than likely are not going to search for your brand; they are going to search for “24 hour plumbers in Louisville”. Knowing what and how users are going to search will give you a leg up in your internet marketing efforts. Here are some quick tips on how to make your brand more visible online:

1) Keep your website up to date

The last thing a user wants to do is search for a service, find your website and inquire about something you don’t offer. Or even worse, fail to contact you because your phone number/email address is out of date. Make sure that all of your primary service/offering pages are up to date with current geography serviced, products/services offered, etc.

2) Enrich your site with content

Having an active blog or information page not only helps you with search engine optimization, but it also helps the users that are going to find your page. Oftentimes a user will search through a site before they make contact, looking for unique value propositions or sales pitches that convince them that you are worthy of a conversion. Make it easier for the user by providing them with free content related to your niche – it helps the user out, and gives you more authority in your area of expertise.

3) Make sure your online presence looks good on mobile

Mobile devices are here to stay and will only become more integrated in society. If you aren’t betting on mobile, you are going to lose. Ensure that mobile users are able to navigate your site and find the information they need about your goods/services.

4) Analyze your traffic

Looking at how users enter and interact with your site is critical to understanding their wants and needs. If users spend a lot of time on a certain page, it is likely that they want information about the page in question. Integrate more of this content on your site and try to answer questions users may have that are related to this page.

5) Be found online

Having additional presences online is good for your business. Social media is an easy way to expand your reach and interact with users that normally would never find your brand. Use platforms like Facebook and Twitter to posit questions and quick tips that are related to your niche.

Placing the foundation for your internet presence isn’t hard, you just need to cover the basics and think about some of these elements that are easy to forget.
