Blog Abstract: How To Rock Social Media

by | Jun 9, 2019 | Social Media Marketing

From time to time, team members will share their views stimulated by content from an industry thought leader. Here, our Project Manager, Irina Boudreau, discusses the recent article by Annie Crowford at Adobe, “What You Need to Know About Social Media in 2018″.

In this article, the author gets to the nitty-gritty of social media content with the help of three experts: Sue Zimmerman on Instagram, Mari Smith on Facebook and Peg Fitzpatckir on Pinterest. While the article was written last year, the points made here are very much relevant and applicable in 2019.

The path to success on social platforms starts with rich visual content and engaged consumers. Social media is all about connections. You must focus on genuine conversation and shares if you want to keep your posts from being buried in the feeds. But your highest ROI will come from purposeful engagement. So how do you engage with your followers?

Video is where it’s at

With video estimated at 80% of all internet traffic in 2019 and 250 million daily Instagram storied active, video is the best way to engage your audience. Users look at videos 5 times longer than at static content. Focus on the mobile experience by using hi-res visuals and readable text. Make sure to show your brand within the first 3 seconds.

Stir the emotion

Hook your audience with great authentic photos and graphics. The more genuine the better. And keep it within context. Photos of people, especially close-ups, baby and animal faces, tend to grab attention better than object photos.

Show your brand’s personality

Make sure your visual style tells your story. Everything from photos to text to colors will reflect on your brand. If you can, take custom photos and create custom graphics. If you can’t, using high-quality stock content is fine, just make sure the photos reflect your brand.
