Sorry folks, video is here to stay!

Even in a world where video is everywhere, some business owners still think that it’s still just a “fad”. I hate to break it to you, but video is only going to get bigger. Video is immediate, it conveys messages well, and it is very engaging. More and more users are consuming video content over written or audio, and studies have shown that users seek video content more often as well. In a recent study, it was shown that by simply including the word “video” in your email subject line, it will increase your open rate by 19%, and your CTR by a whopping 65%.

You may have some doubts, I’m sure. Video takes more time to create, it is more confusing than just writing an article.. the list goes on. This may have been the case five years ago, but in today’s hi-tech world, it is arguably easier to … Continue Reading

So, what is Pokemon Go?

From time to time LocalDirective team members will comment on a piece of content they see online. In this post, Larry Lembcke discusses the insanely popular Pokemon Go game and this article from Inc.com that talks about leveraging the game for small businesses.

I am sure that you have heard of Pokemon Go by now. If you haven’t, just go walk outside onto any street and wait for a few minutes. I will almost guarantee you will see someone walking by, focused intently on their phone while they wave it around and spin in circles. That person is likely hunting Pokemon!

To give you an idea, Pokemon Go currently has more active daily users than Twitter. Let that sink in. In a week they have generated more daily users than one of the largest social platforms to ever exist. 16% of all Android devices have Pokemon Go installed, and 6% … Continue Reading

The Importance of Sharing

Marketing your business and spreading the word is tough enough as it is, so when it comes to getting social, most business owners and executives seem to think it is an optional endeavor necessary only for departments that have time to spare or businesses that want to seem “trendy”. Unfortunately, that is about as far from the truth as you can get in this day and age!

When it comes to social marketing, most businesses will have a few updates a month promoting some aspect of their products or offerings. This may have been enough to cut it 6-8 years ago when social media was in its infancy, but in today’s day and age, you need to do more than just stand on a box and yell at people. If you are the only person on the block standing on a box and yelling, you will stand out. It is … Continue Reading

3 Ways To Video Boosts Your Internet Marketing

We all know that video platforms like YouTube and Vimeo are monsters in the internet space. Content creators have been releasing YouTube videos for years that generate amazing value for their brand, so why can’t you jump in on this as well? Video platforms are just for amateur movie makers or mega corporations! Consider these three reasons why you should be leveraging video today:

1) Subscriptions – Most content creators are able to serialize their content and generate a userbase. These subscribers will follow your brand and watch the content you release on a continuing basis. Much like email marketing campaigns establish drips, you can do the same with your video marketing campaign.… Continue Reading

Predictions for the future of internet marketing

From time to time, team members will share their views stimulated from a piece by an industry thought leader. Here, Larry discusses the recent Forbes article by Jason DeMers highlighting 7 predictions for the future of internet marketing.

Jason DeMers recently wrote an article on Forbes highlighting 7 predictions for the future of internet marketing. I think many of his points are valid, but his prediction that competition will be reduced is a little off. Competition won’t be reduced, it will just change.  There will always be people trying to offer your goods and services for cheaper than you.

Check out his article and see what you think. Here are the talking points of his article:

  1. ‘Reality optimization’ will become a thing.
  2. Content feeds will become finely-tuned for each individual.
  3. Non-digital ads will die.
  4. Privacy concerns will reach their zenith, spawning more brands that prioritize it.
  5. Competition will

11 Ways to Get More Eyeballs for Your Pins

Businesses can successfully promote their products or services by taking into careful consideration the Pinterest culture of popular pins and searchable pins. Before you begin pinning, it is wise to find out what the followers are actively seeking by gleaning over the well liked Pinterest categories to discover boards that can be a perfect match for your business. A key strategy in Pinterest marketing is to build meaningful relationships with followers and influencers to grow the reach of your pins. You should be aware of what users are looking for when following other boards to contribute usefully. Interestingly a study by The University of Minnesota, it was found that there are three factors for Pinterest users in their decision making process on whether to follow or not –

  • The number of accounts you are following or that are following you
  • The total number of pins you have
  • How many boards

Possible Trends In 2016

From time to time, team members will share their views stimulated from a piece by an industry thought leader. Here, Larry discusses the recent Forbes article by Jayson DeMers about marketing trends in 2016.

Every year you see dozens of articles about “the hottest marketing trends of next year!” It is inevitable, you can’t really avoid it. With so much content floating around and so many authors trying their best to predict what will happen, it’s hard to know who to listen to. Now, I don’t think anyone can read the future, but this recent article by Jayson DeMers seems to hit several important points:… Continue Reading

Triple the benefit of your content

As we all know, content is king (tired of hearing this yet?!) It is hard enough these days just to keep up, let alone release multiple pieces of content a week. What if I told you that you can get 3 times the benefit from each piece of content you have? I bet you are excited, and you should be! Blog articles are just one (and the most popular) type of content, but let’s not forget things like Slideshare, YouTube, and Podcasts.… Continue Reading

Showcase Your Business on LinkedIn

linkedin_showcase

LinkedIn showcase pages have replaced the Products and Services tab as dedicated digital marketing spaces for businesses to promote certain aspects, products or services to distinct customer segments. Showcase pages work like an extension of your main LinkedIn company page to draw attention to a specific product or brand. You must have a company page to further create showcase pages but they appear as a standalone feature in a menu on the top right column. You can use Showcase Pages to display specific products or services offered by your company and write a brief summary for each. Take for example IBM, they have a number of showcase pages, including IBM Analytics, IBM Security, IBM Cloud, etc.  It takes time, effort and dedication for the correct management of LinkedIn showcase pages.… Continue Reading
